Abstract

Social media has changed the way individuals express and construct their identities in digital spaces, with TikTok emerging as one of the most popular platforms for young people to display their lifestyles and cultural interests. This study explores the self-presentation of the TikTok account @amdrasinatra in representing skena culture and examines the role of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) in shaping digital identity. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using non-participant observation, documentation, and literature review. The analysis focused on 45 videos uploaded between December 2025 and February 2026. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña and interpreted through Erving Goffman’s dramaturgy theory. The findings show that the account consistently presents a scene identity through verbal elements, such as DIY and indie-related captions, and nonverbal elements, including oversized clothing, vintage visual tones, accessories, and alternative music. TikTok serves as a digital front stage where identity is performed, while the FYP algorithm influences the visibility and circulation of content, making the distinction between front and backstage less apparent. FOMO also encourages audiences to adopt skena-related symbols, creating an ongoing process of identity formation involving creators, audiences, and the platform.
